Moisture in hydrocarbon transmission lines is a catalyst for Iron Sulfides and Iron Oxides to corrode the carbon steel pipeline walls and storage reservoirs creating Black Powder. This Black Powder contamination degrades product quality and prematurely wears and seizes pump components, valves, and meter gauges. The Black Powder further wears on the pipeline wall compromising the integrity of the pipeline and reducing pipeline life.
Install two 24” long 2”OD Magnetic Separators into existing carbon steel basket strainers in the tank farm.
A significant amount of Black Powder contamination was collected by the Magnetic Separators.
